Some legal definitions of rape that fail to recognize social realities. Family rules about sex created a very bizaar environment where women weren't empowered to resist--if they protested, they would be admonished--sometimes punished--for being unloving, selfish, out of it, etc. That's coersion. Now image how it might feel if you are afraid to say anything except "yes" and "I love you", but inside you're saying "no" and "I don't want this." A sensitive guy would pick up the passive resistence and probably ask a few questions that empowered the woman to speak up about her preferences. A rapist wouldn't bother to ask. Neither would a jerk.
