What cult were you in? Self-respect, and everything else about the self, was a sin in the cult I was in. Like susie, you are painting everyone with the same broad brush. You ask: "What is everybody thinking????", when the more appropriate question is: "What was everybody thinking?" If you ask that question then you get into very complex issues that are complicated by individual situations. Your questions seemed designed to lay blame and guilt. I think it's safe to assume that all of us do that to some extent well enough on our own without your help, thank you.
