I knew some women like that - just ask Lydia - she was one. But you are right, it was more often the other way around. The women I saw like that I thought were either sex crazed or enjoyed the attention so much they'd do anything to get it. Maybe in the real world, no one would give them any attention, so this pumped up their self esteem. Also, I think some used it for position of glory - it made them look good. Palestina and Delilah (Rose of Phillip Sloan) come to mind.
