Some women really got into FFing and were glad to leave the husbands & kids behind at the Home, & go out & get wined & dined & laid by some schmuck who supposedly 'knew how to treat a lady.'
In between these two extremes --of hubands who pushed their wives into it for money & wives who gladly went out on the town-- are most of us.
I don't think you can categorize Lydia's husband so easily since you don't know their situation.
