Forgive my use of hyperbole, and I stand corrected with regard to women's property rights in SOME of the colonies. Nevertheless, what is a 6-y-o girl who can "consent" to sex? (Hint: A woman?) One can argue that sheep and cattle also "consent" to sex when they submit to their bestial perpetrators without kicking the s**t out of them.
The cases you cite did not hold true for ALL of the colonies or for ALL of the states during the post-colonial period. ALL politics are local, and that means much depends on where a woman lives at any given time in history with regard to the extent of her civil liberties. Yeah! Let's hear it for states' rights!
