The love westerners and treat you like royalty, everything is cheap also. A foreigner over 55 can buy a condo in Thailand for about as much as you can buy a car in the U.S.
And there is no extradiction treaty with the U.S. so you are out of the reach of the arms of the law. Also, since they are a Buddhist country, they have no idea what is involved in Christianity and if you told them to watch out for a cult, they wouldn't know what you are talking about.
I'd say that's a pretty good guess. Could be why the quietness from Maria - all that travelling and getting acclimated.
