I remember talking to German Demetrius in Poggio Secco, Italy where he had just married German Rebekah, who had been nanny for Deborah's kids. Demetrius had never been in childcare and so when he married Rebekah he got a real eye opening education. He came up to me astonished one day and said, "I knew the Family took kids from their parents, but wow, what I just heard, we're as bad as the Gypsies!" He didn't give details and I never heard anything else about that for years, but I guess it was policy for leadership to do that, especially if one parent was either leaving the Family or considered weak.
