It's not your poor social skills - it's the nature of this environment. I bet they were funny and pointed posts in spite of it all - probably just bad timing.
OK - here's some more predictions. Gorbachov (sp?) had a mark on his head - like the false prophet or AC was supposed to have.
He kept predicting Jesus' return and must have changed the date at least 4 times. The first time I believe was 1981.
He claimed he knew when he was going to die and when he lived past that, he claimed God gave him another chance.
The thing about the computer chip is that it probably was already in the process. Some things actually do take 20 years or more for developing before they enter the market. They were actually using them for dogs many years ago.
And if you want to go by these lame things, how about Star Trek, or other science fiction shows. Many of their gadgets are probably prototypes or already on some drawing board. Look how far we've come with laser surgery. Although, Beam me up Scotty, may not be in the too near future.
