Well, that sure was UPLIFTING. THANKYOU!
Lots of birds chirpping and migrating through here right now. In fact, IT'S A MUSICAL RAPSODY!
I took my daughter birding yesterday. It was a bit cold and cloudy, nevertheless, it turned out to be a phenomenal birding adventure. As we put-putted across the creek and into the vast and sprawling, as far as the eye can see, prairie farmland down the "not an all weather road," you know, the one of pure mud - no gravel, we saw quite a few rough-legged hawks on their way (way up) north to their summer breeding grounds, (a first for both of us) a few harrier hawks, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pintail ducks, about 120 tundra swans, vast numbers of Canada geese, mallard ducks, and an assortment of many other ducks, the bald eagle, the kestral and the merlin attacking a magpie. Fortunately for the magpie, he got away. They say if songbirds could dream, the merlin hawk would be their worst nightmare. I've seen them take birds on the wing many times.
Hey, crops aren't growing here yet, my woman isn't pregnant, but we're still making icecream.
