My guess is, after this long of time and lying for so long, she's bought into the deception and believes it herself. The SGs in question, were just trying to be good young people but they had a conscience because it wasn't their choice in the first place.
I know people like Claire who are still in and refuse to own up to the truth, they've bought into the lie for so long they would do anything to defend it such as continue lying.
