I think that sometimes we miss the importance of the simple interactions that we all have on the boards. These conversations do influence people.
It seems like at NDN we are always starting over with some new person who just left The Family, and is still stuck in the old ideas. I'm having a conversation with one right now.
Most of these people do move more toward the center with time. But, the really interesting thing about it is when you hear from people via email who never have posted, and maybe never will. Sometimes they see themselves in these conversations. Sometimes they don't like what they see, and they change.
Nobody can calculate the value in terms of someone thinking about joining The Family, and perhaps doing a google search and ending up here. I don't think that any reasonable person could read the information presented here, and draw the conclusion that it would be a good thing to join The Family (or even give them a donation).
