Pictures were burned for pretty stupid reasons, basically paranoid fears. One reason was that if you had photos of other Family members on you and the authorities were looking for that Family member, they would question you. So a security rule came down pretty quick that you couldn't have photos of anyone who was not your personal family.
Then when they began breaking up marriages 'for God's glory' & shipping the children around and all the mates & parents were crying, it was decided that having photos distracted you and was helping you put your mate or your children ahead of God (read: Berg & Zerby). So pictures of kids and mates got burned so you wouldn't make an idol out of your loved ones.
Then of course Berg got a 'revelation' that evil spirits had hitchhiked on Timothy Concerned's photos, causing Davidito to wet the bed. (Yeah, go figure if that makes any sense.) And evil spirits hitchhiked off of a video Keda took and brought Hong Kong Goolagong into Berg's house, so you had to pray over videos too.
So there you have it. Photos had to be burned because they promoted idolatry, were demon-possessed and were security breaches.
