Yakuza is the term you're thinking of. I don't know any details, but the fact that Mr. Narita had owned a club in the high-priced Ginza district probably meant he crossed paths with Yakuza. That's only a guess though, and whether or not he had any connection to them I can't say. I lived with him in his Shibuya home (I think that's where it was) for a little while, but I never heard anything about that, not that he would've confided in me.
