As early as 1973 I told a shepherd who was hitting on me that "I don't have the faith for it." (I don't subscribe to the theory that the sexual ethos of the Family was different in the early days.) The way I was taught by my tribe leader, "I don't have faith for it" was code language for "I'm not attracted to you." If I had been attracted, I would have found the necessary faith to for "it." (Funny how that works--but then, this was several years before Berg released The Girl Who Wouldn't.) I've just never been irresistably attracted to people who already have partners. A pregnant partner to boot! How attractive is a guy who hits on a single woman while his mate is off giving birth, anyway?
