I applaud Elixia's decision not to let the Family be part of this financially. If they donated in any way, they would want a part of it and they would claim ownership of the event. It is their blood -- they use money to control people.
Look at Gordon Melton. they pay him and others off to get good reviews by so-called neutral academics.
I think the point being made here -- about the show of solidarity -- is important. 10$ from 200 people says a lot more than $2,000 from one person. It shows we know and we care.
In this sometimes crappy ex-member world we live in, it is so important to care one for another. I think that most people can put up with a lot if they know someone cares about them. But if nobody cares, or it is perceived that no one cares -- well, when deep depression strikes, it can be pretty brutal.
