If what Sarafina says is true, that everyone admits that Karen purchased some property somewhere in Arizona for her parents, maybe not specifically Elderhaven, but some house or some retirement home for them, that should be addressed.
How many members of Karens' group past and present have given much of their hard earned income, including their own inheritances (I, myself gave up $20,000 and then lived like paupers with 8 of my children) so that Karen Zerby could have such luxury as to be able to buy her parents a house, while she has never worked a day in her life. I don't want it to sound like I dont think her parents deserve a house from their daughter, that is not the issue, it is what Karen has done with this money that she did not earn and in fact, has received out of spiritual coercion and spiritual rape of members who mindlessly think they are following some sort of prophet of God. For anybody to claim they are hearing from God (and prophecy that they are to give over so much of their income for their own expenses) for anybody else puts them in a whole different category of accountability. The people of Elderhaven, being of a christian persuasion should understand this. It's pure exploitation and if I were you, I'd be doing a lot more than merely sending out a short denial without any real explanation.
Angela Smith may have been a very nice person, so are many members of The Family International, but that doesn't change the crimes of the past and of the present. There is a principle here that is being crossed and that principle is to stand up for the abused children as well as their parents who at vulnerable times in their lives were asked to give over so much of themselves for a false prophet. If you can't understand the gravity of this situation I suggest you read some of the letters on this site put out by Karen herself to her flock. She rules with an iron hand and no one dare cross her. I would think you would be concerned about this, and if you are, but just aren't saying, I apologize for being critical. Forgive me for being just a tad angry, I managed to escape the stranglehold of these doctrines, but had to leave a daughter behind who at this time is no longer writing me probably due to the edicts of Karen Zerby, your wife's sister. I do not have goood feelings for what she has done and continues to do in tearing apart families and leaving a wake of harm and destruction in people's lives, all in the name of God. God help us all.
