I have one comment though. My mother used a coat hanger on me many times. That was pretty standard practice when I was growing up. People still spank their children in the States. That is not unusual or considered abusive. Also, that is something that is open to much debate.
Berg waffled back and forth on his form or severities of corporal punishment. I think the kicker was the Teen training camps and what he did to Mene. Those to me would qualify as child abuse in any court of law. However, I have apologized to my children for being too hard on them sometimes when punishing them. I know I did sometimes out of sheer frustration of having so many of them and so little control. And that was just my fault.
I'm just worried that we might think that because we spanked our children we automically were being abusive. Nevertheless, I am now more inclined to never spank children, yet sometimes I realize it is necessary for a little hand slap now and then, especially with little children.
