Actually, this is something that my son and I were discussing. We were talking about the whole sexual aspect of TF and we realized that our little nucleus of a family was never really touched in that way. He asked me why. I told him that most of the time we were on our own since his dad was always a shepherd and also I watched them like a hawk.
The only times they were in danger was when we were in a combo for a couple of years and they were put in groups. Thankfully, the people we were around were not like some of these people I've been hearing such horror stories about. Sure, there were bad things, like someone putting on a sisters dancing video for the JETTS. That was abusive though none of us understood that then. This is why my daughter in TF will stand there and argue that she never saw any abuse in TF. Of course not, she was a princess, a singing sensation that was handled with kid gloves.
It's like a sieve, everyone goes through it, but different experiences happened to different people. Some people were maybe just lucky that they didn't happen to be around the wrong people.
The last couple of years I was basically living with my children, we all slept in the same room. Maybe that's what saved them also.
