I know your post was not an accusation. My tone was rather reflexive, more than anything else. I was trying to add other layers to what you wrote.
Some of us were in a better position and that is why we did something. We said no to sex with children. We said no to a 6th grade education. We tried to fight as much as possible from the inside and when we realized that would never work and the whole thing was rotten we cut our losses and left with our children. We licked our wounds. We tried to survive with no back up when there were no internet boards and no cell phones.
We spoke up. We are still here. Of course in many ways we do have a life outside of here. But in these times even the closest friends who have never been insiders cannot understand what it is we are trying to come to terms with here.
I like your last sentence. Perhaps some critical mass of truth is drawing closer.
Perhaps preparation can indeed meet opportunity. And so many have been preparing for a long time.
