I agree with you, Susie; it was a very prudish and strict environment during the early 70s in the COG/TF.
I even got my butt chewed off by Watchman, for the grevious act of French-kissing a Costa Rican sister (gasp!) (actually, she kissed me and I, being the chaste COG brother, told her we shouldn't be doing that since we weren't bethrothed to each other.) The spurned girl reported the incident to the leadership, and the rest is history.
A few years later, I probably would have gotten chewed out for not going along with whatever she wanted to do with me! Kind of a male version of the "Girl who Wouldn't" Mo letter. Sheesh...talk about going from one extreme to another!
