I gave away US$110,000 of my inheritance back around 1982. That was a lot of mony back then, and it still is now. I know of cases when leaders told us to go home to spoil Egypt and collect our inheritances ahead of time. Well that just about guaranteed we had nobody to turn to and nothing to fall back on, if we ever tried to leave.
