I am bringing this up because someone referenced CounterCOG Newsletter #14 by Sam Ajemian in the above post. In it, he uses the legal names of several victims, and I believe, without their approval. If this is so, it is re-victimization, exploitation, and an invasion of privacy. The victims own their own stories, but Sam A. has claimed he owns them just as much. I don't mean to start another Sam bashing crusade, but I think it is relevant to understanding what people are going through when they leave, and how to be better in tune with their needs. Any one of those victims Sam has mentioned by name, could feel very alone and re-victimized daily, trapped from moving on and unable to find a much needed space for privacy and anonymity, because their name is out there constantly on some web page and in some newsletter. I think about Ricky and what he went though.
When Ricky first got out, there were ex-member FGs who wanted to exploit him because of his high profile. At the time he needed to recover in shelter and safety, and probably not to be pulled into other people's agendas. People were trying to recruit him into their not very well thought out causes, instead of listening to what he needed and what he proposed to do.
The last thing we need is to be aloof and not learn from all this.
