I find it erroneous to compare SG and FG as Holocaust survivors and Nazis, respectively. I further find it reasonable for probably more FG posting here than not to be offended at categorically being chastized and expected to be accountable for horrors many SG suffered. All that were in the family whether born into it or recruited were mis-used and abused. Some modeled themselves after the abusers and some held more of a victim role. Some perhaps interchangably depending on whether they were on the "ups" or "downs" of family leadership acceptance. FGs went to camps and were humiliated and raped and dealt with too. Not all FGs or SGs went to camps. There is a difference in being born into the family and growing up in the insanity and being recruited at a vulnerable time in life.
Most cult recruits are garnered from campuses or places where youth hang out. There is a reason for that. It is a vulnerable age when people look for meaning and purpose in life and when wars are raging (Nam for us, now Mid Eastern turmoil and terrorism for the current youth)and idealism seeks a place to be activated. I think much has been written, some from people with knowledge of what was occurring behind the scenes to affirm and validate SG as well as to confirm and support their efforts towards some measure of justice which also varies according to SG.
All suffer with variances having survived the family system. That being said what is more disturbing to me is that at exer boards where many have been out of the family for years, many never involved in any camps or doling out demerits etc, there is still a categorization of FG as offenders in general. And YES , this does elicit responses that are not going to agree with you. Every human being in the family or not has shades of grey to deal with. Most exers that post on boards are not perpetrators as far as I know. Many never were. Obviously there are some that were or are. The bigger question, imo. is where does the anger need to be targeted? At the gestapo top leadership that keep the ball rolling and the pedophiles and sadists that were the actual perpetrators of some of the more horrific crimes against minors or others? ARe they posting here at this board? Probably they are not posting at all and still tithing or in hiding somewhere. Let me say this once more: ARE THERE EXERS POSTING HERE AT THIS BOARD THAT SG'S VIEW AS PERPETRATORS AND DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY EXPERIENCED? If you believe they are then tell me please just who they are? And then tell me WHY you believe that about those specific individuals. Some fg's DID react by stepping in to stop some wrongs though in the family state of mind they believed they were wrong. And consequences could be dire for them.
Perhaps it would help you to make a list of the guilty, a partly guilty list, a little bit guilty list and assess fines. While you are at it, make your own list and assess your own life both during the family and after it. Then assess the same fines on yourself meaning if you committed crimes, you should turn yourself into the police and admit them. Go to jail for them. Maybe pay society reparations for them. OR you could learn from serious mistakes, make amends with people you directly affected due to the influence of being raised and abused in the family and take legal action if you wish against those who have committed crimes against you.
So much time is wasted targeting the wrong people with legitimate anger. Could that be possible? I think it is probable. I also think it helps NO ONE. Maybe ending generalized statements will help end the crap and put the focus on the real targets.
