the discussion on Wikipedia

Posted by keeping perspective on January 06, 2005 at 00:30:13

I have been reading the discussion and was very struck by something quite odd. How come the proCog editors like Cognomen who from what I can see is part of TF take so much pain in defining what exactly prostitution is? No matter how you cut the cake, and regardless of how you view the act of sex between adults when there is exchange of money, the main issue to me is the following:

-most FFers were married and with children
-most fish were married as well

Since WHEN any mainstream Christian organization promotes and condones adultery and sexual acts of this kind? (without protection at that -- remember about "having the faith to catch a germ or a sperm?" There are enough people who still have those "germs" and also have children born of those encounters)

In a certain way I agree with Cognomen. You could not call it prostitution because even in the sex trade people are not that stupid or raving mad to prohibit the use of condoms, birth control, and even discourage the use of medication for resulting diseases!

So I don't think the focus should be on the semantics of "prostitution." (Enough of that, give us a break, an entire FFing volume was enough)

What went on was WORSE than prostitution. Good old fashioned prostitution admits to what it is, and it does not take an entire board of discussion to define sexual acts and a transaction (money, goods, protection, whatever the exchange value was)

It was pure madness and I don't know of any mainstream charity organization that could endorse such sexual activities and call themselves "Christian."

Now, if FCF wants to drop the deceptive cover, own up to its own history and the history of its leaders, and stop declaring to be a Christian charity, THEN they can discuss the "legal" definition of prostitution using dictionary and parsing words.

I have a suggestion: it would be nice to call out to all ex members who would like to have a peaceful march on Dulzura, CA. for a peaceful sit in with placards and signs and pictures and memorabilia that will remind these people at FCF that no matter how often you tell a lie you cannot re-rewrite history and you cannot "create" the truth. It could come out in the local papers. I am sure such a sit in would not go unnoticed.
