I'm wondering the same thing. I've met 2nd gen members in their 20's now who have never seen the old pubs. I think they grow up thinking that it is all a lie, or an exagerrated. Or that people simply misunderstood the letters and took it all too far.
The arugment right now has to do with calling it "prostitution". This website received a letter a while back that basically said that the Family never engaged in prostitution, and said that anyone who says they did is guilty of slander, and a whole raft of crimes. The Pro-COG editors on Wikipedia are going along that same line.
I don't think The Family is ashamed of the past. I just think that they realize that it is bad PR to have an online encyclopedia that links FCF with prostitution, even prostitution that happened years ago.
