This doesn't surprise me.
I think the article is one of the best that I've seen on The Family. It is really difficult to explain this stuff to people who know nothing about it. It gets so strange so fast, that people look at you as if you must be making it all up.
Your description eases into it, without sounding like it was written by someone who was out to get The Family.
Like Sgt. Friday used to say, "Just the facts".
