It depends first of all, how Rememberance meant X...
Berg & TF got that wrong or gave it only one meaning & even at movingon you find, that some got tricked into the old TF interpretation...good for you, that you can read the X (old Greek) correctly???!!
If Remberance used it the TF (wrong)way, then why fuss?...it'd just be a seasons-greeting, like for Hanukha or Dhiwali...you didn't ask back, how it's meant, which is by the way the polite way...sorry, to break that to you!!!
Now you imply, it's meant the real Christian way, whatever that is...after all, for such a small post of R. you interpret a lot!!!Do you always do it that way, reading between the lines?
"Many want to distance themselves from any talk of religion whatsoever. With this in mind, we wish to offer a place where eXers can discuss their ideas, hopes, despairs and aspirations freely and not feel compelled to relate everything religiously. We realize that for some, this is a very necessary and required space."
Well, some can relate to Christmas non-religiously, some
can't help it, but see it very religious. If someone wants to greet people for X-mas, you consider that bad!??!...goodness...well, at least you should agree then, that it
belongs on journeys, huge mistake!!!!(care to address some bigger problems than that??)...sounds like you have a hard time forgiving people, if you express so strongly, that R. was so inconsidered??
"And in my opinion, it's not a question of moving it to Journeys" really??????(but you dislike the religious flavour, which your "nostrils" seem to sense!!!) You make then a suggestion how it should have been worded (like that it could have been posted on GenX ???????):
"It could have simply said, "To those of you who celebrate the holiday, merry xmas" or something similar, something that shows consideration and respect "
Those, who stuff their mouth at thanksgiving, something you commented about at soapbox or elsewhere, if I remember correctly, are they celebrating thanksgiving??
How is the holiday or holyday of Xmas celebrated "correctly" in your opinion...isn't your phrasing a bit vague?...putting up a tree will suffice???Playing Santa Claus for the children or better building a manger scene???Singing Carols etc. etc.
....if you'd say happy blah blah day, you'd think I'd care, unless it's dear to me?...nice, that Jules reminds the readers:

Happy Canada Day!
Have a wonderful Canada Day! You think I care? (although I learn a bit from it, but all nations seem to have a special national holiday, bit much, to care for all that), I don't even care much about the German national days...so much for that...Give me a break, Perry...
"I live in one of the most multi-cultural places in the world, where public celebrations of various religious and ethnic holidays are common. It is only the Christians that feel the necessity to impose their celebrations on others." What silly -pardon me - argument...you have apparently no idea or have blinded yourself to it, how other religions have imposed their ideas & other things on the masses & strangers...might want to check into that, before posting such lopsided, unbalanced comment. If anything, you're simply effected - at Xmas - by what the majority of the people felt should be celebrated... that's fading more & more, as you probably know...
"Wish you all a very happy Xmas!!!
This is a sincere expression, made in true frienship and understanding."
I am not an expert in grammar & semantics...however to my poor knowledge there's no object in the secondary clause,... friendship for whom , understanding of whom or what?????
So you feel addressed & then complain, that it'd be a sample of poor friendship:
"Regardless of how sincere you were, a true friend, as you claim to be, would have had more understanding than you have displayed in posting that greeting."
Wish you sincerely lots of true friends & more patience with those, who don't live up to your standards!!!!!
My advise: don't feel addressed, Christmas is apparently not to your liking!!!
(The way it's commercialised also not to my own, at least it makes the shopkeepers happy...)
I realize that some will think that I'm just being overly sensitive or politicially correct....Yes, I belong to those, who think that way... They can think what they want...kind of you, liberty of thinking..... I merely expressed an honest emotional reaction to the general greeting. I was not attacking the poster, just hoping for a little more consideration. Sincerely, I think it's pretty hard to please you, especially as a Christian...
See, how they dealt with something similar at movingon....if you read the thread already, then I am a bit surprised at you.
