The Family butchered your spirit. At least the idea was they turned you into mince so you were malleable. In other words easier to manipulate, but they called it being yielded, and being a better vessel, and broken and all those control words. Sadly there are many ex-members who still use this control method today, and cut you off (ostracize) at a drop of a hat if you don't fit in with their views.
