I was there March 1976 - about June or July. I remember Elisha and his French wife, Bathsheba, very fondly. Some of my best memories were devotions- first being sent out to sit under a tree and pray singly for a while, then coming in and reading from the Bible around the circle. There was one girl who read only Finnish, another Danish, another Spanish, myself in English or French, one new babe who could not read at all, etc. But they were some of the most meaningful devotions I remember.
Also that's where we ate "milo"- a few bites and it swelled up in your stomach. And where I first learned to make granola in a skillet for a huge crowd. The gypsy dancing was terrific. The cold baths in the communal girls' bathroom not so fun. The attempts at hitchhiking in and out of that deserted rural area on the weekends for faith trips was quite the undertaking and we got lots of walking exercise.
Chevannes had some of the better memories of my time in TF, despite the fact that I got into considerable trouble there for going on the road and having sex with my Moroccan faith trip partner (after all, we'd just read the first couple of the brand new King Arthur series, so I thought....).
Anyhow, some interesting memories.
