A simple home experiment will show that a piece of cloth suspended the same way using 2 rods will not flap or wave the same way as the lunar landing pictures appear to show, when there is wind. The corner furthest away from the 2 rods is the only region that will flap. The pictures of the liunar landing flags show clearly that the fabric was not fully stretched on the horizontal rods. That is the reason for the appearance of a "ripple effect" caused by the fabric itself, just like a curtain.
