Excellent point.
But, in some cases it's even harder to get former cult members to work with a team. When I first came around, everyone thought every single thing I did or said was part of a larger conspiracy. I was using common catch phrases that Berg apparently ripped off, and people would freak out.
Some others go way too far in the loyalty department to the point where it gets creepy.
All that said, this has been the most interesting group I've ever had the good fortune to work with. It took me a lot of time to get my style adjusted. But, what I've learned works out in the world as well. It's important to be sensitive to people and how they react to things you do and say as a manager.
I certainly understand my own wife better than I ever did in the past.
