Hi Erika. No, I don't think you missed the point at all. My reason for the above post is because the impression was given out that Achieck had been "punished" and "shut down" because she had re-found Christian faith, and I wanted to explain that that was simply not the case. This conclusion caused one poster below to state:
Acheick helped start this board, worked very hard on it and during her process of recovery has regained her Christian faith. It appears that she is being punished by certain members of this board for her change of heart. Why is that? How come if she wants to be a vocal practising Christian she gets shut down?
I have never been punished or shut down or censored for my Christian faith, not by the other coordinators at least. Now, I have had people of different persuasions dispute my views on the open boards, but that's their perogative.
I will grant that it can appear to some Christians that there is an anti-Christian bias to this board, simply because we are definitely also trying to accomodate those with little or no faith, however it is also fair to point out that to some agnostics and athiests on the other hand, it sometimes appeared that Christians were the ones dominating the boards. It's a matter of perspective, I suppose.
We wanted to accomodate all exers, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. And it should be pointed out that we did open a board specifically for Bible-believing Christians. Kathy's Korner was exclusively for prayer and testimonies. No arguments, not even doctrinal were allowed. I regret that Kathy chose to close her board down, and I asked her to please reconsider, but I respect her right to remove it.
I have considered opening up another Christian board to meet the perceived need, but in the end feel that Journeys is probably sufficient.
