I would agree there. But I think having been in a cult, people are naturally suspicious.
The thing is though that there really are such things as confidentiality agreements in the real world. Not if a person is a fisherman, but certainly in most professional fields like counseling, cult-watch groups, etc.
Much of the reason for confidentiality is that the cult is also reading this board, and we don't want to be giving them info they can use.
