Yes, I have read Achieck's letter as well, but WC made the decision that this matter should not be discussed because, for the coordinators here to give intelligent responses, we would be forced to reveal confidential information which all of us, Achieck included, had agreed was to remain confidential. WC has stated this reason in several posts in the past couple days, and that is the reason.
I suppose we could have had a policy like Sam Ajemain and simply state that if you communicate privately with us, know that what you wrote is now public property and can be re-posted in public places, but we have chosen not to do that. Sam has his approach and it works for him, and we have ours. But now that we've made the decision to respect confidentiality, we have to abide within its framework, no matter how many people cry "censorship" or compare us to the cult or ask, "What have you got to hide?"
My question is, if Achieck's main beef is with Carol, why doesn't she communicate with Carol? The answer, of course, is that they do not wish to speak with each other. But should our boards then be the battleground? I understand that Carol hurt Achieck with her comment about talking to her therapist but that has already been a matter of prolonged public discussion, so why should it continue on these boards long after Carol has gone?
By the way, several people, including Achieck, have raised the accusation that exFamily has an anti-Christian bias. Do you agree with that statement? I myself am a Christian and have only received respect from the other coordinators for my faith, which I have always been very open about.
However, I realize the necessity of working with a multiplicity of worldviews, including athiests, as well as the many, many people who have been burned out on faith by the Family and don't know what they beleive any more. On the public boards there is often heated debate about Christian faith, but the assertion that Achieck was "driven away" from these boards for her refound faith is simply not true.
Our site exists for all exers, Christians and non-Christians alike, and while that often means heated debates and (as we have seen) sometimes hurtful comments, we simply cannot cater to one party to the exclusion of the others. I regret that the recent elections have caused even more division over these issues.
