My personal opinion is that you should save towards your retirement rather than your children's education. I wish I could do both, but we arrived so late on the scene, so to speak.
I'm not a Mormom but a friend of mine who is told me that they are encouraged to stay out of debt except for two things: your house and your education. Those are the two worth "investing" in. I found this interesting.
I have co-signed for my children's student loans & they are all responsible and not expecting me to have to pay for any of it. I wish I could, but I just can't.
I think we owe it to our kids to not be a burden on them in our old age. I don't want to have to depend on them or anyone. JMHO.
