I just got through reading the thread about the removal of Soapbox. What a shame. It was such a great board. I still don't get what the big panic was about people arguing, sometimes violently, about their differing opinions. Movingon seems to manage really well without too much intervention from the board's coordinators. Its true free speech. Why is this site soo different and soo full of fear that things will 'get out of hand'. I can defend myself and my ideas against Alan and I'm sure he can against me. I think people seem to burn themselves out arguing and sooner or later they get sick of it if left to themselves. Why do people take it on board and so personally. If relationships have suffered then I'd say there is something seriously wrong (other than Soapbox) with those relationships). This whole things seemed to stem from Carol offending Acheick. Why can't those two work it out. Why shut down the whole board. Maybe Joseph could help me understand the 'dangers' of political boards. Its less dangerous than guns isn't it?
