Isn't the GenEx board such a place? I mean if we mention our post family non religious beliefs, for eg. "the Jesus myth", that's quite a turn from our former life experience when we were stuck in the cult. In explaining our current "ideas, hopes, despairs and aspirations" as it says in the GenEx guidelines it's kind of hard to do that sometimes without saying whether we believe in God or not. In other words, I think on this board it's a place to say "I'm an atheist" & give the reasons why without being encouraged to "have faith" and getting quoted scripture?

I for one need the diversity. My recovery from the cult is enriched by a wider variety of views and communications with ex family members. If I didn't get to hear Susie's and Jewlz' feelings about things I'd be missing a lot. GenEx should be the safe place to hear it.

Soapbox, which was put up to discuss the American elections, is gonna get a lot of religion on it because of the nature of the current presidency and campaign. This election's not only about politics but religion too, so if someone wants to post an atheist feeling it's going to get flak.

That shouldn't happen here on GenEx.
