Thank you soooo much for this collection of thoughts. I work in state government, where I spend a large part of my day banging my head against walls trying to get bureaucrats to move in the direction of positive changes that will benefit vulnerable citizens, such as abused kids and adults with brain diseases.
There are many times when I walk out of meetings with pathological, power-hungry, self-centered myopic bureaucrats, and I think: What's the point? You can't change City Hall. The darkness that is entrenched in the heart of these evil, obstructive toads is greater than my faith.
I do very little in the way of making progress happen for extremely vulnerable people who rely on the state's social safety net for their health care. Still, I do a little. Maybe not enough, but I am thankful that I keep finding the strength to to fight the good fight.
