steve hassan now uses the term "undue influence" in discussing this issue, which seems to fit. i does not absolve any of us for our responsibilty in deeds done in the fam.. but does help one to understand the dynamics involved in behavior that was intrinically foreign to our core personalities. i would argue that there is also a spiritual dimension to the whole thing, but the deciever seems to know an awful lot about how our noodles operate, imo.
