"Life in The Family: An oral history of the Children of God," by James D. Chancellor, is offially sanctioned by Family leadership and listed on the Family's website as an authoritative source of information about the group.
Chancellor's study documents two things that are sometimes disputed: 1) The origin of Family Care Foundation as a social service arm of the Family, and 2)the fact that child sexual abuse occurred in the The Family as a consequence of Berg's teachings.
