I don’t agree. First of all James Penn was not a leader. He was a WS staff member. Also I don’t find James Penn’s apologies to be weak. Even though I was never in WS I was as dedicated a brainwashed follower of Berg as anyone. I didn’t work in WS because I didn’t have the necessary talents. So to me, just because his writing skills were used by Berg, Zerby and Smith I see the only difference between me and him as being that he knew them personally, and posed a real threat to them personally. Also after I left it took me a while to get various Fam cultisms out of my thinking, in fact there is still stuff there I’m still getting rid of. James I’m sure needed time too.
So I beg to differ: James Penn has done a lot more than just “say a few things and then I've done my part." His articles have led to quite of few people leaving the Family. That’s why Zerby and Smith published page after page of denial. (When it was first published, my daughter wrote me about the 1st James Penn article. She used it to tell why she had just decided to leave the Family. She said lots of people are saying it’s helping them to “wake up and smell the coffee”. I didn’t leave until a couple of years later, but James’ articles did finally have an influence and contributed to my final decisions.)
Maybe you want to take a look at Movingon, so far, most of the SG community there is being a more considerate and positive about James’ post than some of what being said here.
