from an SGA point of view

As an SGA who grew up in the Family and read the Davidito letters from the time I was 13, I would have to say that my impression of both David and Davida (and Techi) in later years, was that they basically were the 'prince and princesses' of our kingdom on earth. If all you have read are those publications, or even through reading the Life with Grandpa, that is the impression one can get.

Although the Davidito letters included clear-cut instances of sexual child abuse, as a kid I would have to say I didn't know it was wrong, it was just the 'Family' way of doing things, the 'new bottle' way. As I got older the mentioning of anything relating to children and sexual began to bother me, but I still was under the impression that it must be right since it was coming from the prophet.

Back to the 'prince' thing: I don't think it's a wrong impression that someone who hasn't been fully exposed to the Family doctrines and totally steeped in them, or for a child or youth growing up in the Family to think. In the Life With Grandpa series you certainly felt they were better treated than we were, they had everything they needed, they didn't live in a huge home that had tons of kids to take care of, they travelled and moved a lot, and they also had chances to learn 'wonderful lessons to make them into stronger ET soldiers', which of course was our total and complete goal as we were growing up. Then you include Heaven's Girl and Heaven's Children, where David, Davida and Techi (and the unknown Marie Claire of whom we were all hoping was us) were the main characters. They were the leaders of the ET, so they must be the royalty. In fact, they were many times referred to as the children of the royalty in the older letters.

David was supposed to be our ET youth leader against the AC forces, so he was the special child, the called one.... Berg certainly taught us that through all his writings during the FFing sagas.

When I met David when he was about 12 or 13, he was very different from what I had expected. As someone else already said, he was a sweet kid, quiet, not outspoken, not flamboyant, but meek and humble, but deep, he had a depth to him that wasn't found in many of the other kids his age at the time. The poor guy was under a lot of pressure, and the whole reason he was removed from the teen life at the HCS was due to the 'bad' and 'cool' influences of some of the other teens. I felt very sorry for him, but I didn't give it a lot of thought because he was the child of the king and queen.

In later years as things came out in the writings about Techi and her 'problems with doubts...', as well as other little mentions about Ricky, I realised that they weren't the perfect kids we had been raised to think they were. I mean, they were even perfect in correction and knew how to receive it without being defiant and rebellious (life with grandpa). Of course, after meeting Davida in person, she had removed any doubt that she was anywhere near perfect, poor kid.

So, I don't think it's a misconception to think of Ricky as the 'ex'-prince, cause that's basically what he was as the child of the queen, prince just seems to naturally follow the title of queen if you are their off-spring as well as so much weight put upon you to be a leader of the 'kingdom' one day.
