I don't think sex is a need on a part with food and water. However, I do believe it is something which, when engaged in regularly, whether alone or with a partner, enhances the quality of life signficantly. Conversely, without out, one's quality of life is significantly decreased.
Masturbating to Jesus was certainly not invented by the Family. Anyone with a little imagination and lots of relious fervor can do it; it's just, in my opinion, that few have embraced it as brazenly as the Family.
So far as the Communion thing- in my 23 years in the Family, I never saw any Home do that. To be honest, I think 95% of the Homes "follow afar off" so far as all that kind of stuff goes. Which, at least for me, is one of the reasons why I lasted so long. I could read the Letters and kind of inwardly shake my head and even think how "radical" it all was, since it was hypothetical and I didn't actually have to do most of the stuff, nor did I see hardly anyone who did.
