I was in Pakistan in the late '80's and we left right at the time TF started setting up the school there.

Pakistanis have a lot in common with Indians, and TF was able to operate there for years. They ended up with quite a big school because when the visa situation in India tightened up a lot of people moved to Pakistan.

They set up a big school home, children's groups up to teen groups, overseen by their teachers, living together in their respective groups. And the parents who weren't teachers or in CC lived in other homes and would only see their kids, even the young ones, on Family day.

Most Pakistanis practice a tolerant Islam, at least they did in those days. When I was there we supported our home mainly though tapenessing, and going to the Sabzi Mandi to provision fruits and vegetables. We provisioned a lot of other things there too.

No wonder TF operation got so big in Pakistan, mooching off of them went wo well.

Of course now the Pakistan of the 2000's is not the same as it was in the 80's & 90's.
