roy wallis committed suicide in the early 1990's. The thing I always wondered about was the scientology issue (he had done really great research on them) and a publication where a family couple (who claimed to have had a background in sociology before joining) described how they met him and he was FFed.
I always wondered if the suicide was tied to blackmailing or academic ethic...or something of the sort. His work remains some of the best of those times (70's-80's) in my opinion.
