When Jimmy Swaggart got caught with a prostitute, he cried big crocadile tears before his congregation, but when his denomination said he had to step down from his leadership position for a few months, he refused to take his punishment. He instead dropped out of that denomination, so he could continue to run his little empire. It was only a few months later, that he was caught with another prostitute.
Compare Swaggart's un-repentant behavior to Jim Baker:
After serving his time in prison, he wrote a very humbling book titled "I was Wrong." Whenever he appeared in television interviews, he asked forgivness for what he had done, and repudiated the get-ritch-quick-with-Jesus doctrine he once embraced. This man accepted the blame for his actions, and has truly repented.
I never cared for Baker's style of Christianity, but he gained my respect by his humility. Swaggart, on the other hand, gives televangelists a bad name.
