Boy you had me right there on the water in the canoe, and I ate all those little delicacies too! You're going to hate me, but hubby and I went out and bought an old 1988 motor home. No more tent camping for us, period! Except that we will be going to Yosemite with some friends and can't bring our motor home - weep.
And I loved your essay until you called me a Mountain Maid - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... years of therapy for that.
Isn't it interesting how everything is so wonderful in the woods until the mosquitos eat you for lunch? Since I moved here, I've realized my new perfume is insect repellent. I guess it's a good reminder that we are in an imperfect world and there is good and bad in everything.
