and just who do you think has been bombing the shit out of them lately? Their own Arab brothers who want to get rid of anything western or any kind of democracy. Are you ignoring the spat of suicide bombers that have been killing Iraqi officials, police, civilians, etc.
That should concern you and it concerns me that it doesn't. The Iraqis have stated that they do not want the troops to leave yet. They know they need the protection. If you study history, you will see that the land of Iraq which has gone through many name changes has always been a strategic place and has been fought over for centuries for that very reason. I sure wouldn't want it in the hands of the kinds of people who think it sport to behead infidels on television and blow up their own race because of their religion.
