If Moore is only half right about what he shows in his film, that is scary enough for me. I have long hoped that this country would take a direction to be more involved in a community way. So many things are out of control. Too many people are denied adequate medical care for chronic conditions or expensive procedures. Too many people live, existing from check to check with a small pocket in the bank and a fear of when the workplace closes, the boss dies, sells or cuts back, will they lose everything they have? Then when you lose your home and you have young children will you lose them too? This is happening throughout America. Also, environmental controls have been so relaxed that we are fast becoming a toxic waste dump. The state I am in has seen a nearly 20 % rise in ground toxins while air pollution is being slightly more regulated. I believe we are supposed to take care of the earth and each other. In taking care of each other, it is not about being forceful, but on having a sense of safety for people as many Americans do not have much of a family or community network in place in case of emergency. In Switzerland there are facilities in case of Nuclear attack for the whole population even though they are neutral. Food supplies too, for 2 yrs I have heard. I think that is great! Here, tucking and rolling or duct-taping and holding breath will not save us in case of a serious attack. Only a very small percentage of Americans in any given potential attack site will have true refuge. Some people can feel more at ease playing golf and fishing knowing their family are in the safest possible hands and that in the event of losing their job (hopefully this coming election) will have more than enough money and connections to keep himself and his family safe.
