The Family's Jesus is such a micro-manager that I'm not surprised he no longer has the time & energy to speak to anyone in the Endtime Army about the "big picture"--stuff like feeding the hungry, healing the sick, visiting prisoners, protecting children, making peace and working for justice, restraint from judging others, bearing wrongs patiently & turning the other cheek...you know, all the basic stuff he talked about when he was among us in human form 2,000 years ago.
If I stay connected to my spiritual center, I pretty much know what movies, books and other forms of entertainment are good and right for me. However, if I have no real hookup with my spiritual anchor, then I need an external authority (like WS, Zerby, Berg, or the spirit-helper that speaks through my cat) to keep me from floundering about and getting lost in the wide world of ideas. I have read and studied many, many things that made me question, doubt and change my most basic beliefs about God and the meaning of life and death. Nevertheless, the only times I have ever truly felt lost and cast adrift was when I failed to listen to and trust the still voice within.
I wonder what TF's Jesus would say if someone asked whether they should watch the science channels on cable or satellite TV? In my view, exposure to scientific method and the development of critical thinking skills are a bigger threat to TF's arcane belief system than being entertained by Hollywood yarns and engaging fantasy novels.
